Our Christmas workshops were bursting with festive fun and it was very exciting to hold our first workshops in our brand new studio! Thanks to all the kids who came along, we hope you enjoyed the fun! Here is a snapshot of what we got up to!
On Monday morning students had lots of fun making their own reindeer and creating their own puppet shows in the Reindeer Marionettes workshop. In the afternoon we made beautiful wreaths in the Christmas Decorations and Christmas Carols workshop.
The Grinch came to visit on Tuesday morning for our play production workshop where students worked in small groups to act out the Grinch story! Tuesday afternoon was a bit sticky in our Gingerbread House workshop!
We had a White Christmas workshop on Wednesday morning where the snow fell down! (In our snow globes that is!) We spent the afternoon practising our joke telling and making Christmas Bonbons.
January Week 1
January workshops were jam packed with dancing, singing, drama and crafts, with a lot of fun thrown in! Students joined us over two weeks at Indooroopilly as well as our Red Hill Studio. Here’s a little peek at what went on!
Week one was held at our new Red Hill Studio (Short and Sweet and Little Experts) and Holy Family Indooroopilly (Short and Sweet).
The week started with flowers and self expression in our Ferdinand the Bull workshop. Students had fun making their own tie or headband and practising a poem to perform.
Monday afternoon was spent in the Hundred Acre Wood, with Winnie the Pooh Craft and Musical Theatre.
Tuesday was all things Unicorns and Ponies! We started the day by making our own Unicorn horns and performing poems all about unicorns. The afternoon was lots of fun in our My Little Pony craft and musical theatre workshop.
Our Little Experts spent Monday and Tuesday mornings learning all about Broadway hits and put on quite a show for parents in our Broadway musical theatre workshop! The afternoons were spent exploring some hilarious skits in the Comedy Acting workshop.
Wednesday was lots of fun experiencing the world of Coco through print making and musical theatre in the morning and Aladdin craft and musical theatre in the afternoon.
Our Little Experts produced their own music video version of Evolution of Disney on Wednesday, learning about film making techniques and dancing.
On Thursday morning students designed their own treehouse inspired by the 91-Storey Treehouse book. The afternoon was all things Pikachu in our Pokemon craft and drama workshop!
Our Pig the Pug workshop on Friday morning was lots of fun, students wrote and designed their own story book!
Friday afternoon saw us journey deep into the jungle for our Jungle Adventure craft and musical theatre workshop.
The Little experts had lots of fun Thursday and Friday mornings singing and dancing along with music from Aladdin. The afternoons were spent exploring the magical world of Harry Potter and all things evil, in our Villains Monologues workshop.
January Week 2
Week two was held at our new Red Hill Studio (Short and Sweet and Born to Perform) and Holy Family Indooroopilly (Short and Sweet).
We started the week with our Mermaids and Pirates workshop where students had a great time making a money box to keep all their pirate treasure safe! The afternoon was spent making puppets in our Paddington Bear craft and drama workshop.
On Tuesday morning we sang and danced like princes and princesses in our Disney Princess workshop. The fairies came out in the afternoon and we created some beautiful gardens for them to live in!
On Wednesday morning students brought their sock puppet creations to life in the Dr Seuss Sock Puppets workshop. The afternoon was spent as mad as a hatter, creating our own Tea Cup Planters.
Workshops got a little wicked on Thursday morning with our Descendants Musical Theatre and Drama Workshop. Giant Hairbows craft and disco workshop in the afternoon was a great end to the day.
Our Droids workshop on Friday morning saw all the young Jedi’s come to Speak Up Studio to build their own Droid. We ended January workshops on a high note with Willy Wonka Edible art workshop on Friday afternoon. The students had lots of fun with all those lollies!
