Speech and Drama Teacher
Miss Katie has had a lifelong love of the performing arts. She studied at the Australian Acting Academy from age 10 and became passionate about improvisation, later going on to win the State Theatresports Championship in High School. After graduating with degrees in Law and Mathematics, she moved to New York to study improvisation with the Upright Citizens Brigade. She hosted a weekly open mic in Times Square and performed her solo musical comedy show at the Producers Club and the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre.
Now back in Brisbane, she performs regularly as a comedian and improviser. She considers her upbringing in the performing arts to have been the most important contributor to her confidence, creativity and love of learning. She is thrilled to now have the opportunity to share her love of the arts with her students.
Work is what you do for others, liebchen. Art is what you do for yourself. ~ Franz in Sunday in the Park with George by Stephen Sondheim
