September Workshop Wrap Up

Our September Holiday Workshops were full of fun and creativity. Thanks to everyone who came along! It was a very busy time for the Speak Up team and we hope your kids enjoyed the fun!

Week One

Week one was held at Northside Meetings (short workshops) and the Red Hill Studio (long workshops). We had nearly 300 places booked in the first week. The week started at Northside Meetings on Monday with The Sound of Music, Finding Dory and Roald Dahl’s Dirty Beasts!

On Tuesday, we were far too excited to take photos at Northside Meetings (woopsies!) but the kids had an amazing time with their Minecraft money boxes, Pokemon cards, Pokemon quest and dragon marionettes. Tuesday was also the day for our Matilda Musical Theatre workshop students performed for parents at the Red Hill Studio.

On Wednesday we did the first of our four Jedi Training workshops, as well as an afternoon of Harry Potter inspired workshops (Fantastic Beasts Drama and Monster Books of Monsters!)

Thursday was a day for the drama queens at Peter Pan, Trolls and Fairy Flower Crowns. We also begun our Harry Potter acting workshop at the Red Hill studio with Miss Frankie!

Week Two

Week Two workshops were held in Chelmer, at St David’s Parish Hall. This was our first time running holiday programs on this side of town, and we were delighted to have more than 200 places booked throughout the week!

Our Monday Workshops were performance and drama focussed with The Sound of Music, Finding Dory and Roald Dahl’s Dirty Beasts.

We remembered to take photos on Tuesday (yay!) and now you can see the fantastic effort these kids went to to craft their Minecraft Moneyboxes and Dragon Marionettes!

On Wednesday, Jedi Training was full. Again. And the Jedi Younglings did not disappoint, with their fantastic use of the force (what we drama teachers like to call concentration skills!) The second part of Uptown Funk was filmed on Wednesday too!

Sadly, we did not have the numbers to run fairy flower crowns on Thursday (maybe next time, Westside!) but our Peter Pan and Trolls dancers were brilliant, and Harry Potter actors got off to a great start!

On Friday, we ran the final instalment of Ningago. The video is brilliant – please watch it! We also ran the final instalment of Jedi Training – funnily enough it was fully booked!

And then we spent the entire weekend packing up, cleaning up and editing all the videos ready for you today!

Thanks to all those who came along. It was a fantastic holiday season and we can’t wait to see you all again at Christmas time, and again in January!
